I have a thing about work, about jobs.
I’ve had a bunch of them in my life: Houston Chronicle paper boy; Los Tios restaurant bus boy; Kroger sacker (where I also got my first promotion to stocker, a.k.a., “The Night Stocker”); oil field rig-up yard specialist (don’t recall feeling that “special” 100 percent outdoors in 100 percent Houston summer humidity…’nough said).
For the second consecutive year, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) is one of the top agencies in Texas utilizing Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs). According to a recent report for the 2016 fiscal year (FY 2016), out of the top 50 Texas agencies in total spending, UTHealth ranked 20th in total percentage of HUB expenditures at 14.23 percent.
