The CRU provides research support at LBJ. LBJ, a 328 bed, Level III Trauma Center, is one of two large indigent care hospitals in the Harris Health System. With a diverse patient population that is mainly Hispanic and African American, located in the heart of a medically underserved area, LBJ is the ideal setting for disparities research.
The purposes of the LBJ CRU are 1) to facilitate collaborative research among UTHealth investigators, M. D. Anderson investigators, and the clinicians at LBJ; 2) to increase research capacity and productivity among LBJ clinicians; and 3) to increase access to cutting-edge research for a patient population that is historically underrepresented in clinical trials. The partner institutions, Harris Health System, UTHealth, and M. D. Anderson, work together to identify and lower barriers to research in this indigent health care environment.
The LBJ CRU will provide resources and advice for LBJ investigators and for UTHealth and Anderson investigators who want to conduct research at LBJ. For information, please contact Ruby Benjamin-Garner at 713-500-7918 or email: Ruby.A.Benjamin-Garner@uth.tmc.edu.
