  • James H. Steele Lecture Series – Every year for the last 21 years on or about Dr. Steele’s birthday on April 3, an invited lecture is delivered at the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, Texas by a world renowned veterinarian, physician, or scientist. The lecture was always attended by Dr. Steele himself where he was surrounded by colleagues, friends and students in attendance. Your gift would be used to defray expenses related to this event which we hope will last into perpetuity.
  • James H. Steele Professorship - This endowment helps to fund a professorial position in the University of Texas in Dr. Steele’s name to further research and education in the field of veterinary public health and One Health.

Every year the Meyer-Steele Gold-Headed Cane is presented to one or two outstanding scientists for their lifelong career contributions to veterinary medicine, public health and One Health. Other exceptional scientists are recognized with honorary diplomas. Your gift will allow the AVES to continue to provide this recognition and to establish student awards in the future.
