Picture a gift box that began to swell five years ago explode into the sky like fireworks, and $20 million rains down. The visual is now a reality for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
“It’s not just impressive; it’s inspiring,” Kevin J. Foyle, vice president for Development, says of the many positive outcomes of the UTHealth Heritage Society. A planned-giving organization, the society comprises community leaders and retired faculty on a mission to support UTHealth and its programs in transformational ways through their philanthropy and passion.
UTHealth introduced Dudley Oldham, Coert Voorhees and Marcie Zlotnik as the newest members to its Development Board at the spring meeting held at the Medical Center Marriott on April 1.
Nearly 400 guests came together to "Share the Light" with keynote presenter Kristen Hertzenberg at the PARTNERS Spring Luncheon, the annual benefit event to support UTHealth School of Nursing. The beautiful spring day was brightened even more by Mayor Annise D. Parker's proclamation of April 23 as "Dean Patricia L. Starck Day."
Members of the President's Excellence Society and Deans' Circle were honored at a reception on April 9, 2014. The event, hosted at the home of UTHealth Development Board member David Grimes and his wife, Windi, celebrated and thanked friends of the university who made annual fund gift commitments of $1,000 or more in the past year.
