Giving to the School of Public Health
Public health is a science that works with people and entire communities to keep them healthy by preventing disease and ensuring better health care outcomes. Public health is also a profession. UTHealth School of Public Health is here to improve the health of Texas and Texans — our faculty and students have been doing so for nearly 50 years.
We are doing some of the most exciting research to identify new ways to keep people healthy and to reduce their risk of future disease. This includes investigating new ways to get young people to eat healthier; new ways to prevent teen pregnancy through better education; new ways to prevent and treat infectious diseases; and new ways to identify the genes that may make some of us more susceptible to or protected from disease. And finally, when you do get sick and you do need to go to a hospital, it is the people from UTHealth School of Public Health who are leading the way through research and education to ensure that best practices are being used to achieve the best possible health care outcomes.
Thank you for considering a donation to the UTHealth School of Public Health. The areas below have been selected as priorities that will further the mission of the school to promote health and prevent disease through education, research, and community service.
This is how you can make a difference.
Dean’s Excellence Fund
Your investment in the Dean s Excellence Fund at the UTHealth School of Public Health is an investment in the health of the community with a potential to touch millions of lives. The Dean’s Excellence Fund allows the dean to seize unexpected opportunities as they arise. This may be assistance with expenses for student conference presentations or funds for innovative but unbudgeted research. The Dean’s Excellence Fund allows the flexibility necessary for our students and school to remain competitive and to maximize potentials. Your gift will help ensure a healthy future.
Your donation to scholarships ensures that the UTHealth School of Public Health will attract exceptional students to serve as the future leaders in public health. We currently face a shortage of trained public health professionals who provide preventive care and early intervention in chronic or emerging disease. Your support means that qualified students can complete the graduate education and specialized training required of those committed to serving our communities even when the cost of graduate education may be beyond their personal means.

Student Assistance Fund
Your gift to the Student Assistance Fund assists masters and doctoral students in paying for the expense of conducting requisite thesis or dissertation research, presenting findings at conferences and necessary travel to professional meetings. At this important juncture in a student’s educational career, expenses can be overwhelming and your support is truly appreciated.
