Faculty Support

At the School of Dentistry, our mission and vision work hand in hand, driven by an unwavering commitment to a singular ideal: Excellence above all.

Faculty Support

Excellence at the School of Dentistry means service to our communities. By committing to being and doing our best in education, research, and patient care, we commit to the health of our families, neighbors, and region.

What drives this commitment and makes it possible to serve the oral health needs of our communities? The people who choose to learn, teach, discover, and work at the School of Dentistry. We seek out oral health care’s brightest minds so that their drive and expertise can translate into impact that benefits our communities.

This impact extends beyond the mouth; as we learn more about the connection between oral health and overall health, we see how changes in the teeth, gums, and surrounding areas can affect the entire body—and how oral care can make a lifesaving difference.

The landscape for oral health care talent is competitive. We compete with some of the country’s biggest names for some of the world’s top talent, and we seek the best with a goal of bringing them here to do their finest work.

It’s critical that we are able to provide these individuals with the facilities, resources, and financial commitments to bring them to UTHealth for the short- and long-term.

In order to continue doing so, we need your support. Your generosity to Many Faces. One Mission. can help fund world-class recruitment and retention programs on par with the world-class talent that calls UTHealth home.

  • "I have seen in my own work and that of my colleagues how philanthropic funds open new possibilities in education, research, and community outreach. Their effect reaches far beyond the walls of this building and into lives, families, and neighborhoods.

  • Advancing Oral Health through Research

    • Our experts bring crucial expertise in specialties like oral cancer; by developing and delivering better methods of detection and treatment, we can help patients overcome cancer while preserving facial structure and sense of taste.
    • Scientists at our school harness big data to improve patient safety by determining how care providers use risk assessments to guide their treatments.
  • Community Outreach and Education

    • We make life-improving commitments to community outreach, including our faculty-supervised Mobile Dental Vans, which reach vulnerable members of the Greater Houston area and East Texas community who often lack transportation or resources to access necessary dental treatment.
    • Our faculty conduct advanced education programs like the pediatric dental residency, where they train future specialists to care for the unique needs of children and adolescents.
