The UTHealth COVID-19 Center of Excellence

COVID-19 has been a challenge unlike any other. Today and into the future, treating acute cases, addressing long-term complications, and coordinating ongoing responses require the best minds in Houston coming together to serve our communities. That’s why UTHealth established the UTHealth COVID-19 Center of Excellence.

UTHealth has expertise across the spectrum of adult and pediatric specialty and sub-specialty care, public health, biomedical research, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence—and we put this expertise to work for everyone who needs our help, from patients in our clinics to researchers across the globe.

The UTHealth COVID-19 Center of Excellence

It starts with our six schools, each of which brings unique perspective and expertise to the UTHealth COVID-19 Center of Excellence. Together, they form the foundation of a comprehensive pandemic response. This coordinated knowledge and expertise is then funneled directly into frontline care, research, and ongoing education.

Across the university, our health care professionals are providing exceptional care for complex cases, saving lives and reducing long-term damage from the virus. And as a regional leader in public health, our experts are uniquely positioned to address the pandemic’s impact on our communities while connecting people in need to vital health services.

Confronting a pandemic is as complex and multi-faceted an endeavor as any institution will ever face. Experts throughout UTHealth have risen to meet this challenge. From frontline care to clinical trials and translational research, we are pursuing initiatives to investigate new therapies, deploy vaccines throughout our communities, and strengthen the global pandemic response.

The work of the COVID-19 Center of Excellence doesn’t end when the pandemic subsides. We are committed to standing guard against future public health emergencies every day—and your support of Many Faces. One Mission. can help us position Houston to meet the next challenge before it arises.

  • Within our six schools, we have the broad expertise that has positioned us as one of the few universities to help our community, Texas, and the country through the pandemic and beyond.
