Pediatrics

Having a child with a health condition can change everything. Whether a traumatic injury or congenital disease, pediatric experts at McGovern Medical School care for the toughest conditions—even in the smallest patients.

Pediatrics

With comprehensive expertise across every pediatric specialty, our physicians provide compassionate care beginning before patients are born and lasting through adolescence. We work with children and their families every day to diagnose and treat complex disorders to help our young patients focus on being kids.

Through residency and fellowship programs, our faculty provide advanced training for the next generation of pediatric experts who will keep our communities healthy for years to come. Our physician-scientists are also breaking ground in pediatrics research—from developing innovative treatments for pediatric neurological conditions to unravelling how children respond to COVID-19.

Drawing on resources and collaborations across the Texas Medical Center, McGovern Medical School is positioned to lead the field of pediatrics. With our clinical partners, we are shedding new light on challenging diseases, repairing cleft palates, and pioneering initiatives to improve child safety. We pursue these objectives with a common mission—to bring hope and healing to our youngest patients and their families.

Our commitment to lifelong health begins with our children. Your support of Many Faces. One Mission. can help provide the infrastructure and resources to ensure they continue growing—and growing up—for generations to come.

  • Pediatric Cardiology

Heart conditions can affect even the youngest patients, and our internationally renowned pediatric cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons provide life-saving treatments and care for children of all ages. From conducting fetal heart surgeries that correct congenital defects to investigating the underlying causes of pediatric heart conditions, our experts are delivering medical advances that help mend young hearts.

  • Childhood and Maternal Health

Dedicated to providing the best possible outcomes for expecting mothers and their babies, our experts are leading the field of maternal-fetal medicine. By training new specialists, pioneering new research, and delivering patient-centered care, we take care of health before, during, and after pregnancy. And our faculty provide care around the clock for the sickest pediatric patients at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

  • Pediatric Care Beyond Patient Bedsides

Our work to improve health extends outside hospitals and into our communities to help kids be kids. Through initiatives like Camp Shining Stars—a week-long camp for children living with chronic kidney disease—our experts help children achieve full lives no matter their diagnosis. We also work with parents and community partners to prevent childhood injuries, the leading cause of death and disability in children. Accidents like car crashes, falls, and drowning can happen to any family, and our experts are developing new techniques and resources to keep children safe.
