Kim Dunn, M.D., Ph.D., a practicing internist, is spearheading a federal initiative to expand the use of electronic health records in the Gulf Coast region of Texas. The initiative is focused on primary care practitioners and is helping caregivers implement a new e-health record system or enhance an existing system. The initiative is called the Gulf Coast Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center at UTHealth.
Dean Sittig, Ph.D., focuses on the design, development, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of clinical information systems. Sittig is working to improve the understanding of both the factors that lead to success, as well as the unintended consequences associated with computer-based clinical decision support and provider order entry systems.
