HOUSTON – (June 5, 2012) The YMCA of Greater Houston and UT Physicians, the medical group practice of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School, recently launched a corporate wellness partnership to provide corporations with a total wellness program.
The partnership between the YMCA of Greater Houston and UT Physicians works because both organizations have a common mission to serve the community and support changes toward a healthier Houston. The commitment is to provide an organization with quality health assessments to improve the health of the employees.
“Here at the Y, we understand the importance of maintaining employee health,” said Clark Baker, CEO of the YMCA of Greater Houston. “Therefore, we are excited about this new program because of the benefits it will add to not just Y employees, but any company that decides to use the program.”
As part of the partnership agreement, UT Physicians Wellness Services will provide special pricing for YMCA Corporate Members and to YMCA community members for biometric health screenings and other healthcare services that will reduce healthcare costs for corporations and for individuals as lifestyle choices become healthier.
“UT Physicians is proud to be a part of this partnership, which gives Houston businesses a unique way help employees get health assessments on the job. The Y provides the fitness and prevention, and UT Physicians offers the medical specialists and care,” said Andrew Casas, chief operating officer of UT Physicians. “We make a terrific team for the greater Houston community.”
UT Physicians Wellness Services provides various biometric health screening measurements combined with a health risk assessment tool to provide individuals with a health status update and corporations with an understanding of the impact of employees’ health on their financial future.
“This mission of the Y is closely aligned with that of UTHealth – we are both working to teach current and future generations the benefits of preventive medicine and good health,” said Giuseppe Colasurdo, M.D., president ad interim of UTHealth and dean of the UTHealth Medical School. “Together we will make Houston stronger.”
