While the COVID-19 pandemic has halted the global economy and sense of normalcy, the risks and effects of heart, thoracic, and vascular disease remain steadfast.

Through the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and UT Physicians leadership and infection specialists, the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth will proceed with the operations of their clinics to continue caring for our shared patients and community.

While the department draws international attention for the treatment of complex aortic diseases and minimally invasive valve surgery, their work extends to all circulatory-related problems, as well as conditions in the chest. Their team sees patients in 15 locations throughout the Greater Houston region, and can provide treatment for vascular, aortic, coronary artery, and structural heart diseases including the aortic and mitral valve, as well as lung and esophageal disease.

Through advanced treatment technologies, they offer optimal and personalized care, along with telehealth services where they provide an added convenience and ensured safety for patients and team members. Cardiovascular health impacted by the stressors brought on by current events can have an adverse impact on patients. However, when we work together, we can help combat those diseases through prevention, medical management, and early detection.

As the clinical practice of McGovern Medical School and one of Houston’s largest health care providers, the UT Physicians network consists of more than 2,000 clinicians in over 80 different specialties, exceeding 100 locations. It is with this robust web of clinical experts and care providers that UT Physicians facilitates the opportunity to offer full-spectrum care for every member of the family.

As the community recovers from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize the increased need for continued collaborative efforts with our UT Physicians colleagues to provide comprehensive heart, thoracic, and vascular care for our patients. As a group of 23 surgeons located at 15 locations throughout Houston, we commit ourselves to helping you provide better care for your patients.

With an all-hands-on-deck approach and confidence in our shared work as partners, the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery looks forward to the opportunity to continue working with our clinical experts, care providers, and staff within the practice.
