Ruppert named “Distinguished Teaching Professor,” joins ICN NP/APNN subgroup

(June 7, 2019) – UTHealth President Giuseppe N. Colasurdo, MD, has approved the appointment of Dr. Susan D. Ruppert as a Distinguished Teaching Professor of The University of Texas System, according to Regents Rules.

The honorific title “Distinguished Teaching Professor” may be bestowed upon members of an institutional academy of distinguished educators such as The University of Texas Kenneth I. Shine, M.D., Academy of Health Science Education (Shine Academy) to recognize significant contributions to education.  Ruppert, the PARTNERS Endowed Professor in Nursing, received a 2018 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award (ROTA), which recognizes faculty members at UT System institutions who deliver the highest quality of instruction in the classroom, laboratory, field and online.

“Congratulations on receiving this well-deserved recognition – and thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for our students, trainees, and educational programs at UTHealth,” said Kevin A. Morano, PhD, UTHealth associate vice president for the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development.  “Very best wishes for continued success in your academic work.”

Ruppert also was accepted in May as a member of the Education Subgroup of the International Council of Nurses Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing Network (APNN). The focus of the Education Subgroup is to keep abreast of the educational and practice developments in nations and regions around the globe through the posting of papers on these issues on the website and to add new country profiles of the APN educational development and resources.
