Video Management System Project Completes First Phase
UT Police at Houston recently completed the first phase of a multi-year capital project to stabilize and enhance MD Anderson's video management system.
During this first phase, a multi-disciplinary team of system stakeholders implemented a new video management software application with advanced search and analytics capabilities. In the coming years, the team plans to upgrade our camera technology to improve system performance and sustainability.
“The rapid increases in camera technology and storage capabilities meant that existing systems were becoming increasingly difficult to manage,” said Brandon Simmons, Associate Director of the Police Technology & Risk Operations team.
“After many years, we’ve now consolidated into a unified video management system and are focusing on standardized camera models and hardware,” Simmons said.
“Our talented team has overcome many challenges and is excited by how the new system is empowering our department’s Combined Protection Model as both a force multiplier and business enabler,” Simmons said.
