Postdoc Town Hall- An opportunity to catch-up on all things postdoc. Join Dr. Kevin Morano, Leslie Beckman, and Dr. Yasmin Chebaro in this Postdoc Town Hall where they will discuss UTHealth postdocs by numbers, response to COVID-19, postdoc training opportunities, and more. Questions are encouraged throughout the talk!

11 am - Meditation with Dr. Chaoul - From website: Dr. Alejandro Chaoul is a Senior Teacher of The 3 Doors, an international organization founded by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche with the goal of transforming lives through meditation. He holds a PhD in Tibetan religions from Rice University and is also an associate faculty member at The University of Texas’ McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics, where he teaches medical students in the areas of spirituality, complementary and integrative medicine, and end of life care. Alejandro is also the author of Chod Practice in the Bon Tradition(Snow Lion, 2009).

11: 15 am - The Stressed-Out Postdoc with Pam Goodfriend - Pam Goodfriend, former Toastmaster and International Award Winning Speaker, is the President of Goodfriend Speaks and inspires her audiences by sharing her authentic journey from depression to recovery. As a mental health advocate, Pam hopes to help stomp out the stigma and shame around mental health issues so that people understand it's okay to say you're not okay and ask for help!  Pam is an active member of NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness and led a workshop for the Road to Resilience in the 2019 NAMI Texas Annual Conference. Pam offers workshops, lunch and learns and co-facilitates a virtual support group.

Navigating Change Management with Laurie Hall - Laurie Hall is a certified facilitator, certified coach and seasoned speaker who founded New Horizon Strategies in 2011. She is a frequent keynote and breakout session speaker on technical and motivational topics to inspire personal and professional growth Laurie has presented at dozens of conferences and professional meetings to small and large groups of 350+ people. Laurie is excited to speak to postdocs about navigating change management.

Resiliency with Monica Guidry - Monica Guidry is the Executive Director of UT Employee Assistance Program and has over 30 years’ experience in the Employee Assistance Program field in both internal and external programs. Her areas of expertise include addiction treatment, impaired professionals, and coaching faculty in academic health science centers on improving workplace disruptive behavior and professionalism. She will discuss resiliency during this time, and especially the resiliency of UTH postdocs.
