Research Description

Dr. Keloth’s research explores structural issues in biomedical ontologies and terminologies with a focus on enriching ontologies, ontology quality assurance and visualization. She has developed approaches to extract concepts from unstructured clinical text to create interface terminologies that can be used for the annotation of electronic health records (EHRs). Her current research at UTHealth involves utilizing natural language processing (NLP) techniques to extract social determinants of health from free-text clinical notes.
