Kristina Mena, Ph.D., specializes in water quality, food safety and environmental science. She is one of a small group of researchers with expertise in microbial and chemical risk assessment. This allows her to examine both acute and chronic health outcomes associated with exposure to contaminated water. Mena has assisted with an Associated Press investigation of the water quality levels in Rio de Janeiro in advance of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
