In 1969, the Texas Legislature created our medical school to meet the state’s growing need for physicians. More than 50 years later, McGovern Medical School ranks among the nation’s most diverse medical schools and is presently the eighth-largest medical school in the United States.
Here, students, fellows, and residents work with other UTHealth schools and Texas Medical Center institutions as well as in inpatient hospitals and outpatient facilities throughout the city and in our network of UT Physicians clinics. As a result, they develop a wide range of skills; a holistic, compassionate approach to providing care; and a deeper understanding of the health care sector.
Many Faces. One Mission. is your opportunity to contribute to every aspect of their education—the type of education that creates the practitioners that patients want and our communities need.
