Epilepsy
Help us change the way we treat and manage chronic neurological conditions like epilepsy—so we can change the story for patients in need of answers and hope.
Our experts make progress every day through the Texas Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. As a level 4 National Association of Epilepsy Centers program, it ranks among the most advanced epilepsy centers in the country.
We recently expanded our reach by launching the Texas Institute for Restorative Neurotechnologies (TIRN) in an effort to enhance collaboration across UTHealth’s six schools and accomplish more for patients. The integration of clinical programs, research, and academic training have the potential to make TIRN the nation’s foremost program for epilepsy and other chronic neurological disorders—offering patients relief in the form of cutting-edge diagnostic tools, therapies, and surgeries.
Our experts are doing important work:
- We are pioneering surgical treatments for epilepsy, such as pinpointing the sources of seizures with fine electrode probes and using laser surgery to eliminate them.
- We are offering compassionate care as we address complex, difficult-to-treat epilepsy cases through medical and surgical treatments.
- We are harnessing big data and artificial intelligence, bringing the power of data analytics to make faster diagnoses and better manage epilepsy cases.
- We are educating tomorrow’s leaders, who will continue our tradition of excellence in treating epilepsy.
Through synergy in research, care, and education—fueled by donor generosity—UTHealth is launching the field of epilepsy to the next level. Your support of Many Faces. One Mission. can help define the next chapter of precision medicine in clinical neuroscience and make UTHealth a worldwide destination for patients seeking relief from epilepsy.
