School of Dentistry students kick off summer session with ASDA Fever Week
Fever Week offered fellowship opportunities for UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry students to begin the summer semester.
The summer session at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry began with a spirited celebration, as the American Student Dental Association chapter hosted its annual Fever Week in early June.
The four-day celebration, held June 2-5, featured a unique event each day designed to welcome students and foster a sense of community.
On June 2, “Saddle Up!” invited students to strike a pose at a selfie station to put their best smile forward for the first day of the summer term.
The following day, June 3, students participated in “Lasso A Smile,” a card-making event. Gathered around tables with markers and stickers, students crafted handwritten messages and illustrations for children patients in the Texas Medical Center. The heartfelt cards featured cartoon-like teeth, flowers, and positive affirmations, extending messages of care and kindness beyond campus.
Early risers on June 4 were treated to “Rise ’N Shine,” a grab-and-go breakfast of bagels, muffins, and assorted pastries designed to fuel them for a full day of classes and labs.
Fever Week wrapped up on June 5 with two events. At midday, students enjoyed a creative break during a lunch-hour cactus painting session. Later that evening, they gathered on blankets at Menil Park in Houston to relax and connect over pizza and refreshments during the summer evening.
