World Health Organization (WHO) sponsored Implementation Research Training and Technical Assistance

WHO Sponsored Implementation Research Training

The UTHealth Houston Institute for Implementation Science developed and conducted a training program on implementation research in November of 2021 (Part I) and June of 2022 (Part II).  The training program included representatives from six countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Myanmar, Nepal, India, and Bhutan. The purpose of the training was to introduce foundational principles of implementation science and to build capacity for developing research related to implementation of policies, programs and practices for the prevention and control of NCDs.

All training sessions and materials are available on our Resources Page.

WHO Sponsored Implementation Research Technical Assistance

The UTHealth Houston Institute for Implementation Science is providing ongoing technical assistance to WHO designated countries in selecting priorities for implementation research to accelerate the implementation of evidence-based interventions and the development of study protocols for non-communicable disease (NCD) implementation research. We have developed a process to align with the objectives and outputs stipulated by the WHO which include assisting in setting research priorities and assisting in protocol development. We are currently partnering on projects with research teams from Bhutan, Nepal, Ethiopia, India, Ghana and Myanmar.
