UTHealth announces transformational initiative to advance patient care

UTHealth is preparing to move to an integrated electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle system designed to enhance experiences for patients and clinicians.

For this transformational initiative, UTHealth is partnering with Epic Systems to implement the new system in UT Physicians clinics and at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center. The initiative, called UTHealthCONNECT, will ultimately create a powerful tool for connecting patients to our health care providers who treat them. It also will facilitate deeper integration among providers to share information and improve patient outcomes and safety.

This is the largest system implementation in the history of the university and involves teams from across UTHealth and UT Physicians working together to launch the new EHR system in May 2021. We extend our thanks to the faculty and staff for their collaborative work and expertise to ensure a smooth transition to the Epic platform.

As UTHealth and UT Physicians, together with our hospital and clinical partners, continue to improve our patient-centered EHR processes, we are committed to keeping you informed of milestones and other essential information. By Dec. 1, updates will be posted on Inside UTHealth as well as other communication channels across UTHealth and UT Physicians. Information about career opportunities related to the UTHealthCONNECT initiative will be available on our Careers website.

This is an exciting time for UTHealth, one that allows us to better serve our patients and one another. We thank you for your support.
