UTHealth Houston Development Board welcomes new members

The UTHealth Houston Development Board welcomed five new members on Sept. 1. They will join more than 120 community leaders in building awareness and philanthropic support for university initiatives that improve health and well-being throughout the region and beyond. Led by Development Board Chair Carolyn Frost Keenan, the board champions the university’s mission to educate health science professionals, conduct innovative research, and model best practices in clinical care and public health.
“We are pleased to welcome these exceptional leaders to the Development Board and grateful for their commitment to UTHealth Houston,” Keenan said. “Their experience, perspectives, and dedication to our community will help drive meaningful progress across the university and the communities we serve.”
Elizabeth Bellows Brockman, a Houston native, is an attorney. She graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in classics and Spanish literature and obtained her law degree from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. Brockman worked for Vinson & Elkins in Houston for several years before marrying a fellow Houstonian and having two children.
Kurt Hanson serves as the senior vice president and chief legal officer at Houston-based Bluestem Equity. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from South Texas College of Law. A recipient of St. Thomas High School’s “20 in ’20” Distinguished Alumni Award, Hanson is the past chair of the St. Thomas High School board of directors and the St. Thomas High School foundation board. He is also a former director of The Strake Foundation and the Mustang CAT Charitable Foundation. He and his wife, Susan, have three children and a grandson.
Christopher “Chris” Joseph is a managing partner and co-founder of Clovis Point Capital, a Houston-based private equity firm focused on software and technology-enabled services businesses. He serves as a trustee of the Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts and a board member of the Children's Museum Houston and the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance. Joseph is a native Houstonian and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington and Lee University and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. He and his wife, Leigh, live in Houston with their two children.
Andrew “Andy” Lusk is the chief investment officer of The Morgan Group, a Houston-based real estate development and investment firm. In addition to his involvement with UTHealth Houston, he serves as treasurer on the board of directors of Inprint Houston. Lusk has a bachelor’s degree in English from Dartmouth College and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. A native Houstonian, he lives in Houston with his wife, Caroline, and their three children.
Laura McWilliams, a longtime Houston resident, is a former banking executive and U.S. Foreign Service officer. At her retirement, she was senior vice president and manager of the International Department at Amegy Bank. McWilliams obtained her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin and graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University and Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
