Veteran spotlight: Martinez uses military experience in the classroom

On Veterans Day and every day, we stand united in honor of our students, educators, clinical providers, researchers, and administrative personnel who have served in the military. We do this through our ongoing commitment to promote a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment at UTHealth Houston and through service to active military personnel and veterans in our community.

New student association helps veterans connect at McGovern Medical School

Daniel Martinez decided to become a doctor after seeing medicine in action during his time in the Marine Corps. For Adam Fisher, it was his experience as a medic in the Army. Both have found a home at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and in a new student group that supports military veterans.

Whether from the pandemic or other causes, nearly all in the UTHealth Houston community have experienced the death of a friend, family member, or colleague. To remember the lives of those we have lost, all six UTHealth Houston schools will observe the Mexican cultural holiday Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with “Día de los Muertos at UTHealth Houston.”
