Despite shortened year, UTHealth dental van provides thousands of treatments in East Texas

A good portion of the 107,000 miles on The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Dentistry's adult dental van were logged on the highways between Houston and East Texas, regularly taking dental and dental hygiene students and faculty to treat patients in rural communities – an area where most residents do not have access to dental care.

An interventional therapy aimed at improving survival chances and reducing the need for critical care treatment due to COVID-19 is being investigated by physicians at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). The clinical trial is underway at Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center and Harris Health System’s Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.
