Synopsis: This program will focus on the oral healthcare demands of special patients and the geriatric generation. Through this course, our speakers will cover topics related to chronic diseases, treating elderly patients with medical comorbidities, pharmacological characteristics of common medicines for the geriatric population, and interprofessional collaboration.
Our speakers will address the '4 M's' to follow when treating geriatric patients; Matters Most; Mobility; Mentation; and Medication. Following each of these practices will optimize the overall well being of your patient. Additionally, we will discuss the pharmacotherapy, side-effects, drug-to-drug interactions and clinical uses of the following drug classes: Psychotropic drugs (e.g., antidepressants, antipsychotics), Cardiovascular drugs (e.g. anti-hypertensives, diuretics), Anticoagulants (e.g. aspirin, warfarin), and Alzheimer's Disease medications (e.g., donepezil, memantine).
