Leslie Beckman is the Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA). As the founding administrator of the OPA in October 2005, Leslie has partnered with UTHealth Houston leadership to develop comprehensive policies, procedures, and counseling for postdocs, faculty and administrators. She developed the UTHealth Houston Postdoctoral Certificate Training Program which grew from a small group of postdocs enrolling in Responsible Conduct in Research and Career Development courses to widening the program offering postdocs access to a multitude of courses on-line and within all UTHealth Houston schools.
As an active member of the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA), Leslie has worked on several committees and in 2014 co-published the first NPA Institutional Policy Report: Supporting and Developing Postdoctoral Scholars. Leslie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She worked for several years in Human Resources. Thereafter, she spent her career implementing start up-programs in entrepreneurial endeavors in the areas of finance, immigration support, and healthcare staffing. Her background along with her passion and energy, makes her the ideal ambassador to promote the careers and welfare for the UTHealth Houston postdoctoral community.
