Event Description
Title: National Implementation of an Evidence-based HIV Prevention Program among Bahamian Adolescents
Speaker: Bo Wang, PhD
Dr. Wang is a Professor in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. He is a behavioral epidemiologist and biostatistician, and his research focuses on HIV prevention and implementation of evidence-based interventions (EBIs). Currently, he leads an NIH-funded project studying theory-driven implementation strategies to increase the sustainability of teachers’ implementation of an evidence-based HIV prevention intervention in The Bahamas. He is also the Principal Investigator of three NIH-funded projects developing multi-component, mHealth interventions to promote PrEP use among young MSM and transgender women in Thailand, and adapting mHealth intervention to improve self-management of HIV and substance use among emerging adults in Zambia. He has acquired substantial expertise in designing intervention studies that use state-of-the-art research designs (multiphase optimization strategy [MOST] and sequential, multiple assignment, randomized trial [SMART]) and in advanced statistical methods for biomedical research.
