Black Americans live sicker and die younger than any other ethnic group in the nation. Why is this happening? The reasons are complex and rooted in racism. The Skin You’re In docufilm series investigates this disturbing phenomenon from its various angles.  We identify the problem, explain the causes and offer real solutions.

In celebration of Black History Month, the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Advocacy (IDEA) Committee and the Office of the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs,  Development, and Diversity at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health present The Skin You’re In. The docufilm series investigates this disturbing phenomenon of health disparities from various angles. We identify the problem, explain the causes, and offer real solutions. A Q& A discussion with Thomas LaVeist, PhD, the docufilm’s director, executive producer, and Dean of the Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, will immediately follow the screening.
