Wenbo Li

PhD
Assistant Professor

Dr. Li is an assistant professor and a CPRIT Scholar in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, McGovern Medical School. Dr. Li's lab combines web lab genomic and epigenomic technologies with dry lab in silico bioinformatics analysis to reveal novel mechanisms underlying gene transcriptional control in biology and in diseases. Dr. Li has made important insights into understanding regulatory enhancer elements, including a role of enhancer-generated noncoding RNAs (eRNAs), chromatin architectural regulators cohesin and condensin complexes, as well as how noncoding mutations in gene promoters may modulate chromatin loop formation in diseases. These mechanistic insights into gene transcriptional control and enhancer regulation will pave ways to develop innovative enhancer-targeting strategies for personalized disease diagnosis and treatment.
