Leadership and Direction
Overarching institutional direction is provided to Safety, Health, Environment & Risk Management (SHERM) by the UTHealth Houston Safety Council, which is comprised of faculty, management, classified staff and student representation. Expert guidance in specific risk areas is provided by the faculty-guided Institutional Biosafety, Chemical Safety, and Radiation Safety Committees.
SHERM organizationally reports to Academic and Research Affairs, with a secondary reporting line to Finance and Administration for designated risk management and insurance matters.
