UT Health Institute on Aging Community Advisory Board
The UTHealth Houston Institute on Aging Community Advisory Board brings together older adults, caregivers, community members, long-term care partners, aging-services professionals, and other stakeholders to help guide the Institute’s research, programs, and community-facing activities.
The board serves as a bridge between researchers and the communities the Institute aims to serve. Members share their perspectives, priorities, and lived experiences to help ensure that projects are relevant, respectful, feasible, and responsive to real-world needs.
Community Advisory Board members provide guidance on research priorities, study design, participant materials, recruitment and retention strategies, dissemination of findings, and practical considerations for implementing programs in community and care settings. Their input helps strengthen the quality, impact, and community relevance of Institute on Aging initiatives.
By engaging community voices early and throughout the research process, the board helps ensure that research is scientifically rigorous while remaining meaningful and acceptable to older adults, families, care partners, providers, and community-based organizations. Its ongoing feedback supports continuous improvement and helps ensure that findings are shared in ways that are accessible, actionable, and responsive to the communities most affected by the research.
