All new classified employees and classified employees who transfer to a position in another department are subject to a six month probationary period.
It is recommended that employees are reviewed during their probationary period at 2, 4, and 6 months from their hire date or date of transfer.
If there are any performance concerns during the probationary review period, a probationary review can be completed at anytime. Contact an Employee Relations Advisor within the Human Resources Department at (713) 500-3130 for performance concerns and/or if you plan to recommend an employee for dismissal.
Probationary reviews are created and completed by managers using the Performance Management system, Perform2Achieve.
Employees are evaluated on annual basis for their performance from 9/1 - 8/31 in accordance with UTHealth's fiscal year.
Employees who are hired or transferred to a new position in another department between 3/1 - 8/31 would still be in their probationary period. These employees will not receive an annual appraisal at this time. Instead managers will complete probationary reviews at 2, 4, and 6 months.
After an employee has completed their probationary period, the employee and manager will use the performance management system, Perform2Achieve, to enter performance goals.
For information on UTHealth’s probationary review policy see HOOP Policy 152.
