  1. Functional Role of HIF-PHDs in ARDS: This project is an extension of our recently funded R01 HL169519 (MPI; Eltzschig, Yuan), focusing on the upstream regulation of HIFs by PHDs during ARDS
  2. HIF-dependent miRNA miR-147 dampens alveolar epithelial inflammation during ARDS. This project is an extension of R01HL154720 (PI: Eltzschig) and R01HL155950 (PI: Yuan), focused on studying hypoxia  signaling during alveolar inflammation.
  3. Dr. Eltzschig and Lab MembersInterdependence of circadian rhythm signaling and HIFs during cardiac injury. This is an extension of a recently funded multi-PI R01 (R01HL165748; MPI, Contact PI: Eltzschig, Multi-PI Tsai, Kuanglei). It is focused on our long-standing interest in linking hypoxia-signaling with circadian rhythm during myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury (see Eckle,… and Eltzschig HK; Nat Med. 2012).
  4. Hypoxia signaling and ATP4a in acute kidney injury. The main goal of this project is to target the HIF2A and its indirect target renal proton pump ATP4A for prevention or treatment of acute kidney injury (AKI).
  5. Protective role of miR-147 in the intestinal epithelium in homeostasis and inflammation. The main goal of this project is to target miRNAs for the treatment of mucosal damage such as occurs during inflammatory bowel disease, and eventually use these interventions to promote mucosal healing in IBD patients.
