The Institute of Perioperative Medicine will support six Research Centers, including the Center for Perioperative Artificial Intelligence Research, Center for Outcomes Research, Center for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Center for Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Research, Center for Aging and Cognitive Dysfunction, and Center for Perioperative Genomic Research.
The Center Directors will lead their respective Research Centers and promote their integration into the Institute of Perioperative Medicine. In addition, they will work directly with the Institute’s Directors to oversee the Institute’s mission advancement, member recruitment, strategic initiatives, day-to-day operations, and budget management supervision. The Institute will be overseen and led by an Executive Leadership Team of all the Center Directors and additional senior members of each Research Center.
Center for Aging and Cognitive Dysfunction
The Center for Aging and Cognitive Dysfunction (CACD) advances multidisciplinary research on aging-related cognitive decline, focusing on improving perioperative care and outcomes for vulnerable patient populations.
Center for Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Research
The Center for Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Research (CHGR) advances multidisciplinary studies of acute and chronic conditions affecting the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary systems.
Center for Outcomes Research
The Center for Outcomes Research is an interdisciplinary hub focused on advancing evidence-based medicine and improving patient-centered outcomes by evaluating the effectiveness, safety, and quality of healthcare.
Center for Perioperative Artificial Intelligence Research
The Center for Perioperative Artificial Intelligence Research (CPAIR) advances multidisciplinary applications of AI, data science, and informatics to improve perioperative care and patient outcomes.
Center for Perioperative Genomic Research
The Center for Perioperative Genomic Research advances genomic technologies, analytics, and methodologies to better understand human disease and its role in perioperative care.
Center for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
The Center for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine advances understanding of hypoxia-inducible factor–regulated adaptive pathways and their roles in acute lung injury, ischemia, and other forms of critical organ dysfunction.
