A short message from leadership

As Vice President, one of my primary goals for the Office of Population Health is to foster new and impactful collaborations, both within the university and with our community partners. We aim to unite a diverse range of stakeholders and apply population health sciences across disciplines to address persistent and emerging health challenges that impact our communities.

Over the past year, my office has had the privilege of working closely with the UTHealth Houston Population Health Council—an essential partner in our work. The Council was established to foster collaboration among individuals and groups across UTHealth Houston’s Schools, united by a shared commitment to improving the health of Texans through population health strategies.

Working together, we aim to foster collaboration across departments and schools within UTHealth to advance the important population health work already underway.

I look forward to collaborating to improve the health and well-being of our communities.

Maria E. Fernandez, PhD
Vice President, Population Health and Implementation Science
