The UTHealth Houston Office of Population Health is dedicated to advancing population health and implementation research and practice through collaboration across UTHealth Houston. We foster and support transdisciplinary, team science and community and stakeholder engagement to achieve population health outcomes and health equity through research, practice, and implementation and dissemination of effective interventions in diverse populations.
Under the leadership of Dr. María E. Fernández, Vice President of Population Health and Implementation Science, our office is committed to bringing diverse stakeholders together to achieve population health outcomes and health equity through research, practice, and implementation of effective interventions in diverse populations.

Our Leadership
Population Health Council
The UTHealth Houston Population Health Council was established in 2023 to foster collaboration among individuals/groups across UTHealth Houston schools that share interests in population health to improve the health of Texans.
The mission of the Council is to support and foster collaboration across UTHealth Houston to achieve accessible and equitable health for residents of Houston and its surrounding areas.
The vision of the Council is to engage in an interdisciplinary approach to facilitate projects and initiatives that improve accessible and equitable health outcomes within a population or community.
The Council meets every two months to share and collaborate on population health endeavors, and to develop and lead activities to advance the strategic priorities of the Office of Population Health.
The Council has representatives from all seven schools at UTHealth Houston. Membership is by invitation only, if interested in joining, please contact the Office of Population Health at [email protected].
