Entrance Counseling

Determine Entrance Interview Completion

Part of the financial aid process requires certain students to complete a financial aid entrance interview. To determine whether or not you must complete an entrance interview, please select one of the categories below:

First-time Financial Aid Recipients

If you have never received any type of financial aid at UTHealth, then you are classified as a first-time financial aid recipient and must complete a financial aid entrance interview. To accomplish this, students should go to the Studentaid.gov website and follow the prompts (U.T.M.D. Anderson students should select "University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center" as the school).

UTHealth students should read the Statement of Understanding (UT Health) form. M.D. Anderson students should read the M.D. Anderson Statement of Understanding (MD Anderson) form. In addition, students receiving financial aid from the Health Professions Student Loan, Loans for Disadvantaged Students, Nursing Student Loan, Primary Care Loan, Ellwood Loan, Robert Wood Johnson Loan or Ralston Loan programs (please refer to your award notice for this information) must also complete, sign, and return the required applicable promissory notes and Truth-in-Lending Statements.

No disbursements will take place until all complete promissory notes are received by the Student Financial Services office.

Continuing Financial Aid Recipients

If you have received financial aid in a previous year at UTHealth, you are classified as a continuing financial aid recipient and are NOT required to complete the financial aid entrance interview. However, any continuing students who wish to complete an entrance interview may do so by visiting the Studentaid.gov website.  Please note that you must still complete, sign, and return all applicable promissory notes and Truth-in-Lending Statements.

Health Professions Student Loan, Nursing Student Loan, and Loans for Disadvantaged Students (LDS) Recipients

Recipients of the Health Professions Student Loan, Nursing Student Loan, or Loans for Disadvantaged Students (LDS) must also print, complete, and sign the following questionnaire at the beginning of each school year. No funds will be advanced on these loans until this document is received by the Office of Student Financial Services.

Return the questionnaire to the Office of Student Financial Services by fax, mail or hand-delivery.
