This page contains information regarding post-award guidelines for both the American Heart Association National and SouthWest Affiliate programs. The American Heart National Grants are setup under fund 56003. The American Heart SouthWest Affiliate Grants are setup under fund 56004.

Allowability
There are several award types from AHA and each has varied allowability. Please refer to the application document or the award letter to determine the type of award. The maximum PI salary/fringe vary by award type. Please refer to the appropriate table in the guidelines to determine what applies to your award.
No Cost Extension
Request are made through the AHA system. PAF is not notified when the request is submitted, so please provide an electronic copy to PAF@uth.tmc.edu. See guidelines for specific requirements.
Carry Forward on all award types - $10,000 or less only needs to be requested on financial report. Over $10,000 requires agency approval.

AHA Guide for Affiliate Awardees
No Cost Extension
An extension year is not allowed for Fellowship awards. All other extensions follow the information provided for National Awards.
Reporting Requirements
All AHA awards are reported in the AHA on-line system regardless of type.
- Scientific Reports: Submitted annually by the Principal Investigator.
- Financial Reports: Submitted per award document by PAF. The PI must approve the report in the AHA system. AHA will not review the document until it is approved by the PI, and final payment will not be issued.
- Patent Report: Should be submitted within 60 days of the date the Invention is disclosed and prior to any public disclosure.
