2026 Call for Proposals: Clinical Trials on Behavioral Interventions in Aging 

The Roybal Center for Elder Mistreatment Intervention Research has issued our 2026 solicitation for funding proposals via the Roybal Coordinating Center’s central application process. Under this year’s solicitation, we anticipate funding 2-3 awards for projects related to elder mistreatment intervention research. Proposals must focus on Stages 0-2 of the NIH Stage Model of Behavioral Intervention Development.

Prospective LOI applicants are highly encouraged to consult with us about your planned project. Consultation requests can be submitted via our consultation request form. Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their consultation requests early, to allow sufficient time for input and refinement to your planned proposal.

 Please keep in mind the following key dates for this year’s application cycle:

    • Required Letter of Intent (LOI) Deadline: October 1, 2026, at 10:59 PM CT/11:59 PM ET
    • LOI Decision Notification: October 23, 2026
    • After the LOI Decision, invited applicants will be required to engage with Roybal Center personnel when developing their proposal. Further information will be provided following your invitation to submit a full proposal.
    • Full Application Deadline: December 7, 2026, at 10:59 PM CT/11:59 PM ET
    • Funding Decision Notification: February 15, 2027
    • Once your project has been selected for funding, you will begin working with Roybal Center personnel to prepare the materials that must be submitted to NIA for approval of your planned trial. Approval must be received before your project can start.
    • Anticipated Project Start Date: June 1, 2027
