Biography

Dr. Michael Nguyen earned his medical degree at the University of Washington in Seattle. He completed his internship and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, followed by a fellowship in brain injury medicine at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dr. Nguyen, who has been in practice since 2017, is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. His primary clinical interests are traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries, brain cancer and cancer-related rehabilitation, disorders of consciousness and long-term outcomes of individuals with disabilities. He also speaks Vietnamese.

As a physiatrist, Dr. Nguyen is passionate about providing health care access and services to all individuals, especially people with disabilities. In both inpatient and clinic settings, he treats his patients as partners in health, giving them unbiased information and including them in the decision-making process. He enjoys collaborating with colleagues and mentors who share his interest in research.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and Association of Academic Physiatrists.
