Nam Van Truong, PhD

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Biography

Dr. Truong received both his master's (2018) and PhD (2023) degrees in Bioinformatics and Structural Biology from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Subsequently, he joined Dr. Jun Wang's laboratory at Mcgovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston as a postdoctoral research fellow. He is fascinated by exploring new horizons in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying heart development and diseases and translating research results into clinical applications.

Education

PhD, National Tsing Hua University, 2023

MS, National Tsing Hua University, 2018

Advisor

Dr. Jun Wang

Research Description

Dr. Truong's current project investigates molecular and genetic regulations underlying sinoatrial node (SAN) dysfunction (SND) during aging using human SAN-like cells derived from iPSCs/ESCs as in vitro models. He aims to develop innovative diagnostic tools and therapeutic targets for age-dependent SND.
